Guanajuato, Gto. (Español) – Siempre un buen momento. Y hoy Zoe y Becker fueron agregados al cartel. Gracias a la Universidad, los chavos que querían rock tuvieron la oportunidad de escuchar los sonidos duales de Becker y Zoe. Y rock es lo que hicieron.

Siguiendo el procedimiento estándar del Manual de Entrevistas de La Jerga, fallamos en asegurar una hora y lugar para, ciertamente, hablar con dichas bandas. Decidimos que el sound check sería nuestra mejor oportunidad, llegamos sorprendentemente temprano para cualquier concierto de rock. Justo a tiempo.

Guanajuato, Gto. (English) – always a good time. And tonight Zoe and Becker were added to the bill. Thanks to the University, the kids who wanted to rock got their chance to the dual sounds of Becker and Zoe. And rock they did.

Following standard operating procedure out of the La Jerga Interview Manual, we failed to secure a time and place to actually talk to these bands. Deciding sound check would be our best chance, we arrived shockingly early for any rock show. Right on time.

After five years in Mexico I had returned to New York to visit friends. I was walking on Bleeker Street on my way to meet a friend at his apartment at the Atrium, an upscale apartment complex that had once been a welfare hotel. A large truck pulled over and screeched to a stop next to me. Henry jumped out of the driver’s side of the truck. I was glad to see him as we had lost touch in the three years since he visited me in Mexico. He was working for a piano moving company and was partners in a limo business. While his partner was driving the limo he was moving pianos, sometimes crawling up stairs on his hands and knees with a baby grand strapped to his back. He was trying to put together a down payment on another limo. He sort of rushed through this news as if it was of no importance.

León, Guanajuato (Español) - Tengo planes para celebrar, hoy comienzan las vacaciones de semana santa y todos debemos festejar tal acontecimiento.

La cita estaba hecha, los Decibeles van a presentarse en la noche en el Viper de Centro Max, habrá que ver como están tocando las rolas de su segundo disco que ya se vende en el Mixup, habrá que ver también el lugar donde va a ser el toquín, tiene poco que abrió pero tiene la bendita particularidad de ser 100% roquero.

Así pues, pasaditas las once de la noche, yo ya me había reventado dos chelas y un platito de churros con limón cuando Revolver, banda asignada para abrir el concierto, empezó a tocar algunos covers para el paciente público que esperaba a Decibeles.

León, Guanajuato (English) – I have plans to celebrate. Today is the start of the Holy Week vacation and we should all rejoice the occasion.

The date was set. Decibeles was playing tonight in the Viper in Centro Max, where we’d get to see how they’re performing the tracks off their second album, which is now on sale in Mixup. We’d also get to check out the new club, which just opened but happens to be blessed with being a 100% rock n’ roll joint.

So then, just past 11:00pm at night, I had thrown back two beers and a plate of churros with lime when Revolver, the designated opener, began to play some covers for the patient public that awaited Decibeles.



¡Aaah, los viejos tiempos! Cuando las personas no zanjaban sus diferencias con feas y sucias bombas y ántrax, sino con limpias y tradicionales espadas y fuego. Con lo abundantes que eran las aventuras en la época medieval, poco sabemos de ellas, y falta dinero para llevar la mitad a la pantalla grande.
